Edenton - The South’s Prettiest Town
Edenton was the first capital of North Carolina. And its amazing colonial and antebellum architecture remains intact and stunning. On the shores of Edenton Bay, tucked into the western end of the Albemarle Sound, and only a bit south of the Virginia state line, the climate couldn’t be better — southern enough to be warm and northern enough not to be hot. Would you believe that we often have roses blooming at Christmastime?
There’s plenty to do here, especially if relaxing is one of your favorite pastimes. And plenty of ways to do it: sailing, kayaking, golfing, taking in an Edenton Steamers baseball game, or just sitting on your porch and reading a good book.
Lots of great shopping, plus any easy trip to the cities of Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Raleigh, and an even quicker one hour drive to the Outer Banks beaches, plus a regional airport just outside of town for longer journeys, make Edenton truly “centrally located.”
It’s largely an undiscovered gem, and Edenton Lake and Harbor is just a couple miles outside town!
